Practical guidance on when it's worth remeasuring your face shape given how it changes (or doesn't) over time.
Bone-Based Shape Is Stable Short-Term
As covered in our aging guide, core bone-based proportions change slowly across years and decades rather than months, so there's no need to remeasure frequently under normal circumstances.
When to Remeasure
Worth remeasuring after a significant, sustained weight change (see our weight-change guide), after major dental or orthodontic work that changes jaw position, or simply if it's been more than five years since your last measurement and current styling choices don't feel like they're working the way they used to.
What Doesn't Require Remeasuring
Normal day-to-day water retention, minor weight fluctuation, or simply feeling differently about your appearance on a given day are not reasons to remeasure — your underlying bone-based category is more stable than daily appearance changes suggest.
